Third song is done! 🙂 This song is very emotional for me. It talks about the events that took place when the war in Bosnia started and what happened afterwards. Leaving the only home I had known until that point was beyond my understanding as I was only 11 years old. The day we left was my sisters 21st birthday. Although she was older she was a child herself. Leaving our home in refuge was an out of body experience. I still remember waiting for hours on end until we had arrived to a location that had an available room for us. With thousands escaping the conflict in Bosnia we all arrived in Croatia and ended up where ever they had room for us. What my parents thought would be a two week trip ended up being three and half years. I feel compelled to share the lyrics below because I think they say so much more than I could ever write in a blog. I believe everyone that goes through war has some type of trauma left in their subconsciousness. We all cary it with us. The spoken part of the song was inspired by Las Vegas events and increasing dangers of social life in USA. We are seeing more lone predators who want to hurt others for no good reason. I personally think they are in so much pain internally that they want to inflict it on others as well. I’m talking about spiritual pain and pain in the soul that no money can alleviate. I think war in Bosnia started because a lot people felt spiritual and soul pain. My fear is that we are getting close to that here as well. I hope I am wrong because I know there are enough good people in the world who despite feeling pain don’t want to hurt others but help them. My belief is that we can never hurt someone without hurting ourselves. Likewise when we help other we also help ourselves. This is why so many people choose to serve others. I hope you enjoy the song and please leave a comment below if you have questions. I’d love to hear from you :*
Leave
We pack our bags my sister and I
I’m so little I’m excited I won’t lie
We’re evacuating all too fast
My parents stay cause they say it won’t last
It’s so crazy to believe that there’s fighting
This is my home why do they think they’re doing
Everything I know is right here
Should I have fear
So we leave our home all alone
You can’t believe being a refugee is so unreal
We survive we’re alive when we arrive
In a foreign land confused we don’t understand
We don’t understand
Neighbors are fighting neighbors
They cite their religions
As the reason why they kill
But wait a minute that don’t fit the bill
It’s the power that they think they don’t have
It’s supremacy they crave
Being stronger than their fellow man
Now I understand
So we leave our home all alone
You can’t believe being a refugee is so unreal
We survive we’re alive when we arrive
In a foreign land confused we don’t understand
We don’t understand
Guns are meant for war
And bullets are meant for death
Of everyone
Men and women
Kids, adults and elderly
Gay, straight, bi and trans
Black, white, asian, latino
Muslim, christian, buddhist, jewish, atheist
Armed forces and civilians
Young and old
Democrats and republicans, all of us
