In 9th grade a teacher asked the class if we could pick only one, love or money, what would we choose? The whole class raised their hand for money and I stood alone and chose love! Not only did the whole class laugh at me but the teacher made fun of me when she saw me in a grocery store (we lived in the same neighborhood.) The class posited that I couldn’t’ survive with just love and that I needed money. But nonetheless I stood by my decision not knowing how I would survive with just this poetic ideal of heightened emotional existence called LOVE.

Well today I still don’t know the answer to how I would survive without money because I know that we all need it to survive but I still stand by my decision that love is all there is. Love is the only thing worth fighting for. Money is not worth fighting for because there’s no money in the world that would make me happy. We know this because opioid addiction and depression affect rich and poor. Money is not a precursor to happiness or a fulfilling life. So that’s what this song is about. Me being an incurable optimist, lover and above all a dreamer that it could always be better despite all the negativity we see in the world. I believe that all of us in our cores know this but we’re often afraid and choose to live in a more fearful world. I have days of fear for sure but I fight those days and moments and find it within myself to always side with love and optimism.
